Extrasolar (2014)

Extrasolar puts you at the heart of a sci-fi thriller as you explore an alien planet one unique, beautiful photo at a time. On its surface, Extrasolar looks like a legitimate scientific expedition. When you apply to the program, you’re promised a chance to control one of the many rovers that the eXoplanetary Research Institute (XRI)™ has put down on the surface of an alien world. As a citizen scientist, you explore the planet using satellite imagery to direct your rover to new locations, searching for new life-forms and anomalies. But before long, the story back on Earth becomes just as compelling as the startling discoveries on the planet as you find yourself wrapped up at the center of a conspiracy, not sure whom to trust.

BioShock Infinite: Industrial Revolution (2013)

BioShock Infinite: Industrial Revolution was a web-based tie-in game for pre-orders of Irrational Games' BioShock Infinite. Players were given 50+ mechanical puzzles to solve that unlocked bonus in-game content and revealed some of the back story leading up to the start of BioShock Infinite.

Sadly, a playable version of Industrial Revolution is no longer available, but you can read more about it in the official BioShock wiki.

Cogs (2009)

Cogs is an award-winning puzzle game for the PC, iPhone, iPad, Mac, Android and netbook. Immersed in a steampunk world with stunning visual design, Cogs players build an incredible variety of machines from sliding tiles. With 50 unique levels and three gameplay modes, we've packed in hours of entertaining, addictive fun.

In 2011, we collaborated with Valve and several other independent studios to produce an Alternate Reality Game (ARG) that accompanied the launch of Portal 2. We wove incredibly complicated new puzzles into Cogs, some of which could only be solved with clues from other games. This ARG is sometimes referred to as The Potato Sack.

Team and Contributors

Rob Jagnow, Lazy 8 CEO and founder Rob Jagnow founded Lazy 8 Studios in 2008. While finishing his Ph.D. at MIT, Rob got his start in game development by working on flight simulators for companies in Switzerland and Japan. He worked on a variety of projects with Demiurge Studios, Gearbox, Kaos, EA and WXP before deciding to take a chance on his own in the casual game industry. Puzzle games had always been Rob's passion and Cogs was brewing in his mind for years before he finally had an opportunity to make the game a reality. The success of Cogs created many opportunities for the company, allowing for things like the high-risk, experimental game Extrasolar to happen.
